Tachomania - fascination with speed

Manias can be hard to understand. Basically, when you say your character has a mania, you’re saying he or she is obsessed with something. It can be good or bad, but the overall feeling should be a compulsive draw to that thing or action.

Manias are distinctive from philias because often times the person inflicted with the mania doesn’t even like what they’re doing, they just can’t help doing it. For example, kleptomania can get your character into a lot of trouble, but they can’t stop themselves; the compulsion is just too strong. Pyromaniacs often really do love fire, but their obsession with it can lead to very negative consequences.
